Watched Haunts (1977) last night. Still working my way through the Mill Creek Drive In 50 pack and the Chilling Classics 50s pack; are there any other sets worth buying?

WednesdaysChild Going to watch Hauntedween tonight, which was filmed in my husband's hometown in Kentucky. It is an OOP 80s movie and has taken him a long time to track it down.

I'm not one of those people who needs a lot of hardcore violence to enjoy a movie. It seems like there are the horror movie junkies who are always looking for the extreme and then those of us who look just for the weird, and I'm the second kind. So if you don't mind not always being absolutely horrified by horror, I can usually recommend something.

Unless it was just called that. 2008 with Ving Rhames and Nick Cannon. Story is not the same but the screen play was from Romero. They figured they could of profit from what little box office success The Dawn of the Dead (2004) Remake had. Which also starred Ving Rhames. IMO I don't think they should remake Nightmare on Elm Street 2 if they didn't get the first one right. Completely HORRIBLE REMAKE. Classics should stay classics.

WednesdaysChild I didn't like it much then. Now I can see that it's a decent movie, typical for the time, but just not as good as the first one. Much more competently made than much of the crap that was gracing the video store shelves in '85-'86!

  • About Me I'm the author of the world’s worst, or at least the most self-indulgent, horror blog! Here you will find rants, gushing, satire, perversions of critical film analysis, bad jokes, an endless search for a greater purpose for the horror genre and desperate attempts to find symbolism. I hate to write, but I love to read my own work. I'm a stay at home mom in the southeastern US. I'm starting to suspect that I'm not the typical southern housewife, but the other ladies in the League of Supervillains haven't noticed yet. Whatever will the neighbors think? When I'm not watching scary movies I enjoy sweatin' to the oldies, sarcasm, satire, singing, baking, bowling, beer, pajamas, pedicures, and alliteration.

Just watched Valley Girl, which could have been funnier but was a nice subtler 80s teen comedy. Subtlety is rare for that genre. Then I watched The Darjeeling Limited, my favorite Wes Anderson movie; I wish that train ride went on forever. Non-horror movies/genres you like?

I don't know why they couldn't use Robert Englund in the remake. Did he not want to do it? The burn makeup could've covered up his age. Hell, Freddy could age if he wanted to, anyway, he's looked every other kind of way.
